Aware

Do you know who you are? Do you know who you will be months from now? Even years?

The sad fact is that we don't have as much control over who we are and who we may become in the future, life pretty much takes that decision from us and changes us into something we need to be in order to survive.

I grew up playing video games, this was my outlet, games made me feel like I was a different person all the time. I could be a sword-wielding hunter in a game like Monster Hunter, or a gun-toting, balls to the wall sociopath in Grand Theft Auto, or even an elf using a simple bow and arrow to defeat huge monsters in World of Warcraft. Simply said, video games defined who I was at the time.

Of course, not all things stay the same, and like I said, life has other plans for us, we can't all just live in a fantasy world. Now, I work in the real-world, with no swords nor shields, no rocket launchers or guns, I was simply just like everyone else, a puppet working to survive.

I was stripped of everything that made me who I was, and I truly despise life for pointing me in this direction. Life is never fair, and the shreds of the old me have to be cut off to make way to the person I have to become, and it's not fun at all.

I really wish that we could all just enjoy life, and that everyone could work a job that they enjoyed each and every day so that no one has to work a day in his/her life. But life, like I said, is never fair, so goodbye old self, hope to see you when I'm 60.
